Questions and Answers about Laser Hair Removal:
DOES IT HURT?
Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described like the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by the patented Dynamic Cooling Device’” (DCD”‘) or air cooling. For some patients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment. Be sure to discuss this with us.
HOW MUCH DO TREATMENTS COST?
Cost depends on the area being treated.Laser hair removal can ultimately help you save money in the long run if you are using temporary means to remove unwanted hair. The new Candela GentleMax Pro Laser will not only reduce the hair permanently with each treatment but since it is highly effective, it may potentially remove the hair in less number of treatments than older lasers, thus offering a further saving on treatment cost.
WHAT IS THE PRE AND POST CARE?
Hair removal patients should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. Skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products before laser treatment. Do not expose the intended treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light 3-weeks prior to or immediately after treatment. Do not take Accutane for six months prior to treatment. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before treatment.
Much like with any lasers – SPF is of critical importance before and after treatments, to speed up the healing and reduce any chance of post-treatment discoloration. With proper care and following instructions – no complications should be expected with GentleMax Pro technology.
